Default WatchOS 3 workout map colours

The route of ones run is marked out in a yellow/amber colour. However intermittently there are green sections. Does anyone know what the green sections/markers represent? The are not distance markers.

    Speed changes, maybe?

It's quite possible, especially if those sections are inclined and/or declines.

For most running apps, it's for speed. Green would be where you ran fastest, yellow second and red slowest. From the look of yours, it looms like your pace was pretty steady the entire run. I haven't used the workout app for a run with os3 so can't say for sure this is accurate.

I think you are right. Yesterday I forgot to stop my workout for a few minutes after entering a restaurant and that part shows as deep red on the map (very slow pace)...
