How can you the difference between an iphone 3g and an iphone 3gs?

I bought a screen for the iphone 3gs then i realized i have the iphone 3g. Some of the reviews said that they recieved an iphone 3g screen and some said they recieved an iphone 3gs screen. Do you know how to tell the difference? and will an iphone 3gs fit on an iphone 3g

It will fit but it won't work. The digitizer, LCD and earpiece from the 3GS are not compatible with the 3G.

no video on 3g. nor gps. of course, half the 3gs' now have had their basebands upgraded (loosely termed) to 6.15, which eliminates the gps anyway.

You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the 3G and the 3GS based on the screen alone. Looking at the back of the phone would tell you which model you have (if the text at the bottom of the back panel is the same reflective text that the apple logo above it is, it's a 3GS. If it's dull and not reflective, it's a 3G. Also if you have a built-in video camera, it's a 3GS). I don't see why a 3GS screen wouldn't work on a 3G. Aren't the dimensions the same?
