charging Remote

I am charging my remote for the first time. I just plugged my remote in to my Mac desktop. how can you tell if the remote is actually charging since it did not make a noise like the iPhone does when you plug it in??

i've also read on other posts that the remote has software separate from the TV OS??

You check the Remote's charge statues via the AppleTV menu...settings...Remotes and Devices... There's a discussion in the forums about how to update the Remote...
