If I could go back in time and not watch this movie, I would. It was one of THE worst attempts to take a beloved franchise and reboot it...thanks to Michael Bay and his cronies he hired to direct and produce it. I don't use this phrase often to describe a movie, but this was truly an abortion.
The liberties they took with the story, even considering the differences between the comics and the original films/cartoon were just shockingly bad. They figured out a way to turn the main villain, The Shredder, into nothing more than a side character all because of random, last second rewrites (look it up if you're confused...the Shredder was originally supposed to be played by William Fichtner, but was completely changed about 2 months before release). The story ended up making very little sense, and was just odd and off pace while watching.
The turtles weren't terrible as characters (though they look like Shrek)...and Splinter was actually pretty cool, but that is where any semblance of praise STOPS. Megan Fox destroyed any likeability of April O'Neil and turned her into a forgettable *****...Everyone else in the movie was just fodder...except Eric Sacks, who is supposed to be the main villain (since Shredder was useless), except he was also pointless, and part of the really dumb "origin" debacle.
This movie sucked. Just plain sucked. I wish I could go back, watch the original 3 movies, and just pretend like this thing was never released. There was NOTHING redeeming about it...ZERO reason to watch it and if you do decide to go see it, don't say I didn't warn you.
If I could punch Michael Bay in the face right now, I would.
