The question says it all...I have a pro 9.7 & office is pretty much free to create documents. The iPad 10.5 is larger than the Microsoft 10.1 for free limitation. I'm assuming if you get that size of the iPad you now have to enter the Office 365 subscription service world.

Hello!

That is an excellent question at this point, and you are right, the new iPad exceeds Microsofts 10.1 "rule" to get the MS Office suit for free. So in theory a 365 subscription would be needed.
Now, I think we'll have to wait and see until it's released, or until we hear from the reviewers.

I'm sure a lot of people is wondering the same as you.

Cheers!

@roystreet , Thats correct. 😃

Microsoft's 10.1" rule will probably still stand. Meaning both iPad Pro models (10.5 & 12.9) would now require you to purchase the 365 version. Maybe Microsoft will add a exception for the 10.5" version but probably not.

That's too bad...It appears that the 10.5" may be the perfect size for me. I still have the 9.7" and love it. I'm really looking forward to iOS 11 though❗

Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it
