I was in a major city for 20 hours and find my iPhone showed me at the airport when I landed but no other locations after that. Anyone know why this would be?

That's going to be an issue with your cell phone carrier. Our previous carrier did the same thing to my fiance' when he would travel to California on business. GPS accuracy is much better with our current carrier. (He has the same phone with both previous carrier and current carrier.)
