When I turn my phone, it does not shift and get bigger. Why?

Am unable to enlarge the screen when I turn the phone sideways.

You could have your phones device rotation lock turned on. Which phone are you currently using?

Sounds like Rotational Lock is on. If you see a tiny lock icon on top menu bar of your iPhone upper right
next to Battery strength. That's your problem.
