Back in 2007 when iOS hit the market it made OSs like BlackBerry OS and Symbian feel very outdated from a UI perspective. Now in 2016 comparing iOS to the MacOS I feel it's done the same to MacOS. Just like the outdated mobile OSs the drop down menus of MacOS gives that same old notion of an outdated UI. I wish more software makers who target professionals for instance in Academia and research would provide alternatives to their great software on MacOS platform for iOS. The iPad Pro has the hardware to pull it off so why not? I'm talking to you QSR and other software makers. Let's do it already.

Big corporations are generally a bit risk-adverse. If it's not clear there is enough money to be made on iOS to get a good return on the huge investment it is to port the software, or if the effort required is going to pull resources from something else that is looks more important to them, they won't do it. The UI of one platform feeling outdated is probably not even a consideration.
