Is the Lightning port sensitive?

Hi I have an iPhone 5 and someone put a foreign object into the iPhone Lightning port and I have a feeling it touched the pins at the top and bottom of the connector. It is just this thin piece that is not sharp at all but has a slight curve at the ends and it touched the pins I think. The phone still charges perfectly, is there anything I need to worry about?
