How to use external audio input and output devices with FaceTime on iOS devices?

Given how important remote learning has become, and specifically with respect to teaching music, shouldn’t we be able to hook up external microphones, mixers, headphones etc., and have discrete control over our input and output sources using FaceTime? Is this possible with iOS 14 on iPad or iPhone?

You can already use headphones/earphones/earbuds with your iOS devices and with the help of a powered USB hub, you can connect an external microphone. I don’t know about using an external mixer, but I assume you would be able to.
