How to add Address Book contacts to iPhone

I received a hand-me-down iPhone 5S from my daughter. I backed up my previous iPhone to Tunes, wiped the 5S, and then restored the backup to it. Everything restored except my contacts. After the restoration, my backup file disappeared from iTunes. How to I copy the contacts to my iPhone?
