Help With Facebook

OK, so maybe I am just an idiot, but can someone please help me with this. Is it possible to post a link, or video that I have copied as into my status and have it embedded like on the desktop version. This is so annoying. I believe I used to be able to do it by using safari and then going to the full desktop site, but that doesn't seem to work now either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
