    Hey folks,

Simple question for those that have switched to AT&T. I've been with Verizon for over 12 years and while I agree that they're expensive, the service has been great especially in the DC area. However, I'm a nomad and like to try different phones from time to time. With Verizon I am completely limited to what I can use on their network but I've always wanted to try all of these "unlocked" devices that seem worth the money. Just seems easier to choose an unlocked phone on a network that supports it. I no longer have unlimited data so I'm no longer bound to stay with Verizon.

I'm wanting to try AT&T while still keeping my current line on Verizon, so I guess perhaps testing it for the 14 days or whatever and returning everything and evaluate my options. Does AT&T have a decent return policy, and can I stop my service within the 14 days and not have to pay the ETF?

    Thanks.

I've been with AT&T since I got my first iPhone (iPhone 4). I live in SW Ohio, and have been very happy with the coverage and service. I just got back from a weeklong trip to Rhode Island, including a side trip up to Boston to go whale watching. I had no issues at all, even on the whale watching trip which took us out to Stellwagen Bank, which is 25 miles east of Boston.

Did you switch to ATT? I'm thinking about going back to ATT after a couple years with VZW. We only switched due to where the in-laws lived (and no service other than VZW) but I've been less than impressed and want to go back to ATT. I'm in the DC area too, but have been places where the service/coverage was bad/non-existant.

DON'T DO IT!!!! We were with Verizon for a LONG time. Decided to go to AT&T because when I talked to them at at&t the difference in my monthly bill was a lot...... I HATE AT&T My bill is actually like $35 MORE than Verizon, we are constantly dropping calls in my house in my driveway, Internet connection is spotty and slow. The whole set up of which ever phone u get from AT&T is completely different than Verizon. Everybody we know who has at&t loves it..... what I say to them is you think it's great because u never had verizon. Seriously don't do it. But if you do make sure you DO NOT go to an "authorized at&t dealer" they are everywhere and u think it's all the same but I assure you they are not. You will only be able to go to them for any problems. It's seriously a nightmare. These are just my honest opinions. Good luck.

I've had service with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and their various names over the years, but I've almost always been in an area of excellent reception for all of them. If you're in a likewise area and you've determined that you'll save money by switching then go for it. Furthermore, unless you're buying a subsidized device with AT&T, you can cancel your service at any time without a fee or at least you should be able to.

I would suggest testing it before you switch. I changed the family to ATT recently and can't get more than a bubble in my house. We all drop calls regularly to the point that I turned on wifi calling, which drops if I'm talking to someone and step outside. The strange thing is, I am less than 3 miles from an ATT Corp store and solidly in the best coverage area according to the map.
