Default AT&T Throttling Back Data Speeds At Night?

I have successfully grandfathered an unlimited data/message plan from phone to phone now for several years...and still have it on my present iPhone 4s.

I have noticed lately that in the evening especially, data transfer speeds deteriorate to slug slow...and sometimes pages time out before they even load. I use a lot of data since I don't have a computer in my home at present.

I have heard that AT&T is throttling back data speeds in the evenings to keep deter unlimited plan users from using so much data that they are not getting paid for...true?

You're likely using a tower that is at capacity for data, so things slow.

Also, AT&T tries to do work on the network (towers and so on) at night, thus less available bandwidth to go around.

IDK, in my area I've noticed that my data speed is increased at night. Usually I'm able to get 10Mbps on my iPad 3 after 10PM.
