The man handles "official size and weight" footballs almost every day of his life.
    No doubt.
Are you saying that there is no way he could have known the balls he was using the the game felt different?
That is not what I was saying at all. My initial reply was in regard to what I thought would be the outcome of the scandal. My second reply went on to say that the organization should be punished if there was irrefutable evidence.
As in, easier to grab, especially in the cold, rainy weather?
    See the above comment

Again, the Colts got pummeled, and I doubt that the deflated balls had any thing (or much) to do with that... but still, Brady HAD to know something wasnít right.
I don't disagree at all. Now having said that, did you expect him to step forward and confess it or keep playing?

I think a punishment is necessary for cheating...but I think some of the people out there calling for the Patriots to forfeit the Super Bowl and the AFC Championship game are absolutely ridiculous. Take a draft pick or two away, and hit them in the pocket...hit BRADY in the pocket, and show the world that even the golden boy isn't safe from repercussions for such actions...and then get back to football.

The NFL is getting disgustingly dramatic lately, and it's making it so uninteresting to me.

Yup. It hasn't been easy to tune out the stupid drama this season and it has started to turn me off and make me less interested. I can say with certainty that I haven't enjoyed this season as much as I have past seasons simply because there has been so much drama not related to football.

It's like watching an F'n soap opera...and it takes so much away from the sport to me when 1/4 of the game they're talking about whatever drama is surrounding "x" team or player that week. I simply don't care about anything but the football...but they're going after a new age audience, and that audience, in my opinion, is destroying the sport.

College is right behind it too.

In 2015 should we really be questioning Brady's preference for smaller balls?

It's the TMZ generation and whenever something happens it spills into mainstream news which just tires me to no end.

I used to watch a lot of UFC when it wasn't very popular. I'm talking back to 1995 before Dana White bought the company. By about 2007 when MMA started to become more popular is when everyone started watching and talking about UFC. The water sprinkled fans. The type where you sprinkle some water on them and all of a sudden they're experts. It no longer felt like my thing with a small group of people who were actually in the know. I have completely abandoned it and hardly even follow it anymore because of that. Now people are becoming aware of the NFL more for what happens off the field and they sit around on TV telling me about the NFL. Women's groups dominating news headlines "Goodell must go!" Who the f*ck cares if they think Goodell should go???

Amen. I liked when I didn't know who controlled the NFL behind the scenes, and only saw the guy at the draft...it's been a LONNNNNNNG time since that was the case, and it sucks. People are more concerned with the Patriots deflategate than the announcements of the college sophomores and juniors...WTF is that? People want to know more about which player is trying to sue Roger Goodell than which player from the national championship team is staying in college or coming to the draft.

The Patriots are taking a lot of heat. Bill Belichick sounded like Sgt Schultz from Hogan's Heroes this morning. They also have a taped interview of Tom Brady saying he likes deflated footballs from 2011.

I think Vic Ketchman from "Ask Vic" has some great insight coming from many years of covering the NFL:

From his Q&A article "We all signed up for this"
I covered a Steelers-Raiders game in Oakland in 1973. We dubbed it the “Dirty Tricks Game” because the Raiders repeatedly sent “doctored” footballs into the game. On one occasion, Ray Mansfield leaned on the football and it went flat. On another occasion, the ball was covered in Vaseline. Other times, dirty words were written on the ball. In those days, the process for providing footballs was much different; it wasn’t nearly as secure. I remember how much fun we all had writing the story and finding ways to use the word expletive to hint at what was written on the balls. Times have changed. Football has become a witch hunt. It’s become crime and punishment, instead of mischief and laughter. I don’t know what the deal is with “Deflategate,” though I’m sure I won’t be spared the details over the next several days. What I will say about it is this: Let’s get the truth; let’s find out if this is the work of a serial cheater. I have no doubt the commissioner will take it from there.

If I was a Ravens player/fan I would be upset about "Deflategate".

I hear ya, iEd. I have seen only one championship in my lifetime...Phillies in '08 (I don't count the Sixers in '83, because I was 1). I pray that I see the Lombardi trophy and Stanley Cup in Philly before I die!

I heard an interview with Aaron Rodgers about the balls being deflated. He was saying that he has bigger hands, so he likes the ball to be pumped up pretty well.

But think about it...and I have no idea what Brady's hand size is...but in the bitter cold northeast, a deflated ball is much easier, and less painful, to deal with. The QB (Brady) has a much better grip, and the receivers have an easier time catching. The 1 out of the 12 balls that weren't deflated...I am assuming was for kick offs and punts, which makes sense because you would want an inflated ball for that so it will travel farther.

Do I think this was what made the colts lose? Absolutely not...I believe the pats would win no matter what. That being said, someone in the organization broke the rules. And this is not the first time this organization has done so...they are constantly involved in scandal. Look at the playoff game against the ravens...Harbaugh ran onto the field to argue with the refs about the patriots' illegal changes, formations, and eligible receivers and HE was the one penalized. There always seems to be something with the patriots.

I feel that a fine or a loss of draft picks would be laughed at by the patriots, and it wouldn't negatively effect them. I feel they need to have a strict punishment forced on them...I just have no idea what it should be.

Actually, kick balls are an entirely separate set...

I saw the both the Flyers in 74 and 75 I was 12 and 13
    I saw the Phillies in 1980 I was 18
    The Sixers in 83 I was 21
    Phillies in 08 I was 46
I'm getting nervous about the Eagles. I consider every Eagles season a failure if they don't win the Super Bowl. Every team in the NFC East has multiple SB's. It drives me nuts.
Now Seattle (who I like) could be on the verge of a repeat. They weren't even existence when I starting watching Football.

"I like to condition my balls...I like to keep them safe and then use the balls I'm comfortable with when I hit the field."

I'm literally crying with laughter right now!!!

I heard a former NFL player trying to justify the deflated footballs by saying over and over, "He was just trying to get a competitive edge". No dummy, it's cheating.
