Default Google Nexus One, threat to iPhone?

Google's just revealed the Nexus One next-gen Android phone, there's a secret superpower. It's voice controllable. Everywhere. it's pretty much as we expected. The 1 GHz snapdragon processor is there, delivering "what we love at Google: speed" (as described during the press event). There's the 5-megapixel camera, 3.7-inch OLED screen and so on.

"This is as powerful as your laptop was four years ago," Android co-founder Andy Rubin said.

Will the Googlephone Nexus One is threat to iPhone? What do you think?

Good news is that the phone supports both UMTS and HSDPA 3G tech.

It seems pretty nice, but I will not be going to T-mobile to get the 3G speeds. Hopefully Google wants to actually be "open" and have AT&T 3G.

I like the fact that Google is offering this phone unlocked, from the get go. Albeit, it will cost almost $600!

Now, let me get my credit card out of the freezer

I was close to ordering just to have a new toy until I read that it worked on AT&T, but not AT&T's 3G. Oh well, the saved me some $$$$.

Anyone who'd buy this to use on ATT Wireless would be foolish. Edge is completely worthless and unuseable. It's worser than a old 14.4k dial up external modem. And yes, I used to have one of those. I upgraded from a 300/400/1200 baud external modem. Am I showing my age?

1) Is it too hot to hold?

2) Will the battery last long enough to complete a call?

If the answer to 1 is no and that to 2 is yes, then it is pretty cool. Lots of novel ideas. Hope that the next iPhone has some of these innovations.

I think apple has some serious pressure on what they need to do with the newest os, but without 3g speed on ATT, I'll pass.

The iPhone sets a new standard for market size. One dare not say that it is unassailable but it is certainly close. Even WM does not compete for developer interest. MS proved that applications trump everything but then forgot it for WM. It is hard to see how Android is to catch up.

It is another Palm Pre.
