Umm tons of texts on my phone. 44 gigs of free space. Not sure how to do one of those clears.

Lately I have had my text message app freeze at random times making me have to hard reset the phone before it will work at all again. I will try closing out the app completely but it will keep freezing until the hard reset is done. There is no one contact or one thing I am texting that sets it...
