Use an iPad for work? We want to hear about it!

I sent an email detailing how I use my iPad as a teacher, and thought I may as well repost it here. # How long have you been using your iPad for work? Warning: Nostalgic rant ahead. I am a teacher in a Primary School. I started with an iPad 3 in 2012 (my first iPad), then bought an Apple...

Is there an ethernet option for the iPad Pro mini?

Think you need to connect the USB to Ethernet adaptor to the Lightning to USB adaptor. You can then plug your iPad to an Ethernet jack and it should work.

So it can be done - Overcast just patched for iOS 9

I am on the iOS 9 public beta, and Overcast has been slightly buggy (works for most part, but tapping on the exclamation mark to bring up the podcast summary does nothing). Today, Overcast just got updated and this issue has been fixed. Overcast now runs on my iOS 9 devices perfectly. And I...

I lost several gigs of space after 8.2 upgrade, will I ever see it again?

Re: Lost several gigs of space after 8.2 upgrade Plug into iTunes and see what is taking up all that space. You will probably need to do a restore as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    iPhone 5S iOS 8 update

Pretty smooth on my 5s. Somehow, the animations and transitions seem smoother and less janky.

Which apple/tech podcasts do you listen to?

re: Idownloadblog and the prompt (while it was still running). I have quite a few subscribed, but not much time to listen to them. Recently tried daring fireball, but each podcast is actually quite long at 2 hours, and I miss the banter of Jeff and mike of IDB.

Passbook: how many people use it?

I am not even aware of any business or services around my area which uses it. :p

Thinking of ditching google services. Is this advisable?

I actually thought of switching from gmail to iCloud email at one point, but my main concern was all the websites and services I had subscribed to which use my gmail address. It seemed extremely troublesome to have to go back and change all of them, and I don't even remember what I subscribe to...

iPhone 5s and future iOS updates

I foresee ram being the biggest bottleneck. If we assume the iPhone's ram doubles every 2 years, the iphone 7 may very well come with 4gb ram. Any OS optimized for that ram likely won't run very well on a phone with 1gb of ram.

For those who upgrade every year, how do you sell your phones?

There are second hand phone shops near my house that are willing to buy my iPhones at a decent price. My 32gb 4s fetched enough to cover the contract price of a 32gb 5s (though I went with the 64gb version). Could I have gotten a better deal online? Perhaps, but this was cash on the spot, saves...

    Anybody getting buyers remorse?

I do sometimes miss the iPad for the larger screen and near-full-sized virtual keyboard, but I also love the portability of my iPad mini. I would probably be complaining about the opposite thing were I using an iPad Air. So I don't know if this counts as buyer's remorse. [emoji14]

What case(s) do you have for your iPhone 5s?

No case in my 5s. :)

Where can I get a hdmi for my 5s to connect to my HDTV?

I have had mixed experiences with 3rd party cables. Some didn't work as reliably, some worked okay, some worked okay initially but spoilt shortly after. In the end, I ended up getting the Apple adapters from their online store. They may cost more upfront, but they do seem to be of generally...

Hold it for a second, what's this? Android winning in Web usage?

Android owns like what - 85% of the market? So what - ios uses are using their phones 6 times as much as Android users? Someone on their side really needs to start pulling their weight... That said, I am surprised because I don't really use the browser that much on my iOS devices either. Most...

    Replacing the iPhone Stock Apps

I use evernote to keep my notes, but I find the app is quite slow when it comes to quickly firing up a blank page to type something out (need to start the evernote app, which takes longer to load than notes, and the interface is actually not very friendly when it comes to locating the new note...

    How many of you...

I am going to give it a miss this year. I tried the ios7 beta last year, which was fun for the few days I played around with it, but it also broke a number of apps (causing them to malfunction quite badly), but it just wasn't worth the subsequent 4 months of inconvenience caused.

New iOS 8 Features That Android Actually Needs to Adopt

Maybe not adding new features, but what about refining existing features? It seems that the general trend is that Android (be it google or a 3rd party OEM) will come out with some new feature, which while useful, is often not as polished as Apple would have done it. And those features tend to...

Do you use third party charging cables?

Still on my original cables here. Use them primarily for charging (so I plug them in like once every night), and they still seem as good as the day I got them. With some care, they should be able to last the full 2 years. :)

What's Your Favorite Thing About Apple?

To an extent, I love it when anyone (even a company) refuses to let itself be bound by the rules governing that industry, and constantly seeks on how to bend those iron rules to fit itself, rather than itself bending to fit those rules. I am not referring to Apple evading tax or engaging in...
