The only fix to the only problem that has been documented, afaik, is the issue with bridging the gaps in the antenna ("grip of death"). Use a case or bumper and it goes away. My iP4 gets exactly the same reception, and drops out in the same places, as my SF and my DX.

Li batteries do not have any memory effect - neither do NiMH. NiCDs do, but no one's used those in phones for probably 15 years.

My hunch is that once LTE is more widely rolled out, app developers and content providers will start trying to take advantage of the greater speeds, which may make 3G devices start looking unmanageably slow. I hope I'm wrong!

Reception, like politics and real estate, is local. :D I have an AT&T BB issued by my employer and it has the same problems, so for me, both carriers are the same, and neither is very good.

I can't even get consistent 3G coverage here in the Boston area....4G is a battery vampire...4G may turn out to be more expensive, tho that's not what VZW claims now...lots of reasons not to hold my breath for 4G/LTE.

It's a funny thing but I have somewhat similar experiences. Compared to my DX and SF, the iP4 touchscreen is uncommonly sensitive, possibly too sensitive. :) I am getting used to it, no worries.

I have had Verizon (and its predecessors) phones since 1989. I have had an AT&T Blackberry for ten years. I live in the Boston area. Both have significant coverage problems. I'd be hard pressed to say one is better than the other where I live and work.
