Why is the climate change debate a political one in the United States?

Me? Condescending? How am I condescending? Have you even read anything that I wrote?
Why come down on hydrogen3? Why not A895 who starts the arguments with his posts? That's right, you're probably a liberal too.

Starts the argument? Are you serious? Is there any way you can have a conversation without blaming someone else for nothing? And then you end by calling someone a "liberal" like it is an insult. What is your problem?

Case in point. It appears you are stuck in a name calling rut. Can it, already. If you want to have a mature discussion have at it but that won't happen while you behave like you have been.

Obviously you have not read the entire thread..... Others in this thread have been demeaning....

There response to every question is. Your uneducated or your point if view is from faux news.

Very serious. You start every tirade in this thread.

And your response to everything is basically the opposite.

It is hypocritical to call someone out for doing the same things you do.

I DID. I responded to hydrogen. You are the one who assumed you were involved (and it wasn't you I was referencing FYI). But the fact you assumed I meant you kind of tells me something...as for A865, a good chunk of the time he's been defending himself.

I love how you claim to not put words into people's mouths and then turn around and declare what my ideology is because, why? I pointed out the arrogance and condescension in the thread replies?

Good lord.

I never assumed I was involved, in fact I knew I was not involved. I was just making an observation. And what words did I put in your mouth? Do you even read my posts? Obviously not!
In case you missed it? I DIDNT QUOTE YOU.

View attachment 71961

And yet you demand to know why I'm not 'coming down on hydrogen' when that's exactly who I addressed before you rode in on your white steed of righteousness.
You obviously didn't read my posts. My steed of righteousness? Please you just don't like when someone disagrees with your uneducated posts.

Yes I'm serious. In another thread you, in more words, called all White people racist. I have no problem. You're the one who's either too afraid or too ashamed to admit you're a liberal.

A respectful moderation team would also send them on a little vacation for failing to follow forum rules for the past 5 or 6 pages of this thread.

Way to go with the mod bashing. For the record what rules are hydrogen3 and myself not following? I know that conservatives and liberals are held to different standards, but still.

I'll await being called a clown, liberal, and any other tired, unintelligent reply.

I'm not afraid to call someone what they are. Your accusing conservatives of not following the forum rules is unintelligent though.

Yes I'm serious.

I unfortunately can't possibly fathom that you are in fact typing these things with a straight face.

In another thread you, in more words, called all White people racist.

Lol, no I know you aren't serious because I said nothing akin to that.

I have no problem. You're the one who's either too afraid or too ashamed to admit you're a liberal.

Why do you think being liberal is an insult because you and hydrogen keep trying to call me and others "liberals" as if it is a slur or something, even though no one has said they are in fact liberals.

You guys are being rather ridiculous. And that's coming from a moderately conservative republican. Heck, y'all aren't even debating climate change. The closest y'all have gotten to debating climate change is debating which news source is better than the other for covering climate change.

The last time I checked I wasn't debating the climate change. I was just pointing out how conservative bashing is accepted here but when someone bashes a liberal they get messages from the mods.

Several of the mods are conservative themselves. And I don't think it was that you bashed liberals(which is immature no matter who is bashing who) but how you did it.

I am not afraid to admit I am a liberal or leftist, nor does the term socialist scare me. I am also in a labor union which a lot of conservatives think are evil or socialistic in nature.

Break the words down. Socialism, what does social mean? It means, "people". Capitalism, what does capital mean? It means "money".

The lefts thinks "we", always looking out for the many rather than the few or themselves, lending a helping hand...etc...

The right thinks "me", always looking out for #1, rugged individualism, sink or swim buddy,...etc...

The choice is yours to make.

I respectfully, strongly disagree with your description of both the right and left, but I don't want to start a big debate in a thread that's not even about this. So I'll leave it to that. Peace.

And that folks is why climate change is a political debate, people believe their personal beliefs trump science. This is why Republicans (for no reason besides political) want to reintroduce the Keystone Pipeline Bill, even though it is already been said that it will pollute peoples water if there are any leaks, and further pollute the world we live in. But, no go ahead, political agendas are what matters most to the right more than ever, so they need more wins to make themselves feel good.

I hope those 4 million "illegals" that are going to be able to stay in the U.S. don't keep anyone on the right up at night.

"This is why republicans(for no reason besides political ) want to reintroduce the keystone XL pipeline bill"

So creating jobs is a bad political agenda? It's obvious you don't know what you're talking about! The only reason, and I repeat only reason we want the keystone XL pipeline is because it will create thousands of jobs. http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspi...tone-pipeline-would-create-thousands-of-jobs/
Now which party only thinks about themselves? And which party doesn't care about others?
Here's a quote from the link above:
"Patterson Pump Company manufactures safety equipment that would secure the almost 12,000 miles of pipeline waiting to be built. Its Toccoa, Ga.?based facility is the largest private employer in the town. Patterson?s production line is only one part of a much longer supply chain that includes the companies that make component parts for the equipment and the transportation networks that deliver the parts and the finished products. For Patterson Pump and the dozens of other manufacturers in the supply chain, Keystone equals jobs for decades to come."
So us republicans only care about rich people, right? The keystone XL pipeline would create manufacturing jobs, jobs that help grow the middle class.
As for your second paragraph, I don't think it belongs in a thread about the environment. But I will say that no, I haven't lost sleep over it, because I think it was one of obama's best moves yet.

And another quote:
"Even President Obama?s own administration recognizes Keystone?s positive jobs impact. The final State Department review found that the pipeline would create upward of 42,000 jobs during the construction period alone, and it would do so without a significant environmental impact, according to the State Department?s report. Economists, meanwhile, have found that the pipeline would create 20,000 manufacturing and construction jobs and an additional 118,000 spin-off jobs. There is no lack of evidence to justify Keystone?s capacity to fuel job creation, as President Obama claimed last year. Our companies? jobs would count among those 42,000?real names and faces to us."

And here is the major news. It is now fact that the pipeline will only create 35 permanent jobs. This temp jobs won't do anything after they are gone. And you still have to consider the environmental impact a leak would have around the pipeline.

Not to mention the amount of private land has to be set aside for a private corporation. I can't find any reasonable argument to justify this pipeline. Potential environmental problems, people will be upset at their land being taken, a bunch of temp jobs that will be gone as soon as the construction ends.

What reasonable long term goals can actually come from this being constructed?
