When looking for Pokemon, are their locations based on their type? Like, water Pokemon by water? Or is it random?

Supposedly it is... so water-based Pokmon are going to be found closer to water. Just as if they were real and you encountered one in real life.

You'll see others around in other areas too. Generally speaking though, water Pokmon are prevelant near water, normal types in town, bug/grass types in parks, ghost/dark types at night, etc.

If your residential area has a lot of grass then u will see some bug/grass types as well. But more than often u will see pidgys and ratatas.

Tell me about it -- but at least I have a ton of pidgey to evolve. They're only 12 candies to evolve
