Hey I've been looking a long time now without finding what I'm looking for, so I ask all of you here.

I use instagram a lot. And I've found users who make insane HDR photos on their iphones. I have tried to understand how they're doing but have not succeeded: (. I have used out of a lot of apps icameraHDR, filter storm, snapsees and the like.

I wonder if someone can explain to me how they do.

Here are some of the users pics:

pics are from [redacted] and [redacted] on instagram.

Maybe it's me, but your avatar looks as if it's been edited with the same filter as the posted photos....:)....Anyway, many camera apps have filters that can create similar images. Instagram, at least in my opinion, had some of the best filter available when I used it a while back.

I dont ever edit with HDR because i like to stick to a real/vintage feel but heres an edit by applying multiple layers of HDR and smoothing along with some drama filtering.ImageUploadedByiMore Forums1391202657.435405.jpg looks so cartoon-ish

From your pic with the man smoking, it looks like they're applying a painter type app along with it. Something like portrait painter.

I'm going to guess that there's some photoshop work going on in most of those. You can achieve some of those effects via filters, but there's definitely some handwork done there as well. Things like lens flares and selective blurring/smudging were not done with filters.

If you like HDR, the best way to get a nice one is in computer: Photomatix or Photoshop are better software for that :p... take the pics with your iPhone and then use that software.
I make HDR since 2006, lol, now I use my FF Reflex, but back in 2006, I used to take photos with a compact camera (5mpx, and pic quality similar to the iPhone 5s) and I got some pretty decent HDRs.

An example:

Then upload the photo to iCloud and then to Instagram :), I belive that's the best way...
