It's said to also 'tether' via bluetooth to anything capable of sharing a data connection via Bluetooth...

I guess i just thought of it as a stand alone mobile device, but its more of an accessory at this point. Once they beef it up with it's own cellular capabilities, I'll be in line on release day!

this does look to be some seriously cool innovation. Only big thing keeping my back would probably be the $1500 price tag

Also not going to lie: I find the entire thing ridiculous from concept to product. I really don't see the use case outside of POV video. Can someone explain to me why you would otherwise use this over a handheld interface?

I think it's amazing. It's the next logical step. It's an always on, second screen. You want to know the time, glance up and to the right. Text coming in, just glance up to read it. Who's calling, you'll know the instant your phone rings. No more fumbling to grab your phone to catch that moment of your child or pet on video, just a quick command or swipe and you're recording.
Sure, the glasses concept isn't perfect yet. But it's a huge step. Before long, they will build this so it fits on existing glasses, and then one day into contact lenses. We're looking at the future of always-on, always-connected communication right here. Google and Apple have frequently been the innovators in tech, and this is just another huge step.

I'll have to wait and see what it's like a year or two after it's been out.
I feel like Google and Apple are just brainstorming for the next big thing. Apple watch? Google glasses? Nike+ shoes?
I can see how it can be useful- but really, how many more gadgets can a person use/need? I have my laptop, phone, and tablet. And now I need to mechanize my glasses and my watch? It'll be like Tony Stark and the iron man suit when you get up in the morning to go to work- but way more dorky.
Don't get me wrong- these would be fun toys to have and I can see some real use for this- like a HUD for Google glasses for GPS directions, POV videos, etc.
But there is going to be a limit on how many gadgets people are going to carry around/pay a monthly fee for/upgrade yearly. - 02-25-2013, 11:23 AM

I think i missed the price when i started reading and getting excited about this...there isn't a chance in hell I'd spend $1,500 on that thing. Not a chance. I'd be in the market around $600-$700.

I'm excited about where it might be in the next 10 to 20 years. Right now, it doesn't look like much. Of course by then I might actually need glasses.

Google actually said the price will be significantly lower when released but the 1,500 is for the first 8,000 dev units released or something like that. They said it would be closer to what premium smart phones cost.
I'm excited for the possibilities of what it will be able to do. - 02-26-2013, 05:08 PM #17

They probably will release a version with mobile data.
Calm down! That's probably just the closed beta, developer version price. It'll be much less expensive when it's released to the public.
Meh. Will probably be overpriced and underpowered, more so than Glass will be (if it's any of those two at all). - 03-04-2013, 06:34 PM #19

I think this project is cool yet ridiculous. There is no need for the constant stimulation and we have no clue what the side affects of it are.

Re: Google Glass...Not going to lie, I'm quite excited to try this thing!
If google can give me one situation in which this will enrich my life, bring me closer to my loved ones, or fill an as yet unfilled niche, I'll buy.
That's the very basic disconnect between the marketing Apple uses and what just about everyone else uses. Apple shows us how their products will make our lives better, and they deliver on that with products that do so without unnecessary complications.
Every other product I've used ends up being more trouble than its worth. Complicated setup and inconsistent results.
Sorry Google, but I just don't see this resonating with a large part of the buying population, not only on the basis of how utterly ridiculous it is but I am pretty sure it'll be a pain in the *** to get setup as well. - 03-20-2013, 04:24 PM #22

I think it's incredible how far technology is truly advancing right before my eyes. Even a mere 10 years ago I don't think anyone expected us to advance this quickly. Very interesting product, looking forward to seeing something solid, despite my dislike for Google's technical side... The search engine is cool though. Lol.
