Well I too used to have blackberry. I think the email on bb10 is going to be handled differently so it may not be as good as it once was. If I were going to consider bb10 I would wait for at least a year. I have the 5 now and the battery life is great. I have no problem going 2 days with moderate use

You're not going 2 days unless you don't use the phone at all, and aren't using lte. I have the 5 and it needs charged every night

@ben233...my comment about angry birds was a bit of sarcasm, mainly just a shot at the marketing that is surely coming for BB10, where they show that their new phone can do what everyone else can now.

but theyve been able to do what everyone else has already on bb7 (majority) they just have to catch up on the app quantity now to stand a chance of staying at 3rd spot in the market over windows phone as previous os's were lacking, so far they have around 90,000 apps ready for launch with 90% of the 600 most popular apps from each platform on bb10 app world currently although its not a lot compared to other platforms theyve started from scratch and will probably be adding more if and when the new phones become more popular and more devs start to develop for them

I guess I'm not clarifying it enough for you...i was implying that Blackberry was going to have to revert back to the features we've all enjoyed for years because of the fact that they have essentially fallen off the map when it comes to phones consumers actually want. They'll need to attract people (in their marketing) with features that Android based phones and iPhones have been doing for years, even if the Blackberry's have also been doing it, because, quite simply, nobody was buying the Blackberry's to USE those features.

blackberrys are the phones consumers actually want in quite a few countries; the UK is huge when it comes to teenage use of blackberries, same for China and Indonesia etc, what they do need to do is convince American consumers as America is a trend setter nowadays

Sales numbers say otherwise compared to other phones competing with Blackberry in other countries, but you knew that already.

i didnt say they were outselling anyone else, i agree they most likely arent but as a resident of the UK every teenager and person in their 20s in my city has a blackberry, same for other major cities ive visited and hundreds of fan pages full of bbm pin swapping, ive seen 4 iphones and a large scattering of androids but the majority is blackberry, sales figures dont automatically mean the amount of active users

ok its invalid that blackberry is popular in the UK because you decided to be childish after a good discussion, it doesnt directly reflect at all - if someone uses a phone it doesnt mean that HAD to have bought it that year, it doesnt mean that they HAD to have bought it brand new directly from a carrier or from RIM besides who would buy a new one in the last quarter of 2012 when theyre waiting for the new devices to be released in q1 of 2013 there are 80 million active consumer blackberry users worldwide does that mean 80million bought them this year? no

I saw someone over at WPCentral claiming that he had not seen a single BlackBerry here in the UK over the past year. I saw 3 today when I got up from my seat to get off the bus. He either does not recognise one when he sees one or he was lying.

Here is also an example of the RIM QNX technology that runs BB10 installed in a Bentley. If you look very closely at 4:30 you will see one of BlackBerry's "hypothetical" new phones.

Childish? lol...ok. I was simply pointing out how your point completely fizzled after you made it, if that is childish, I'll be enjoying the sand box.

Your comment about what people "actually wanted" in those countries was false...sales numbers for YEARS (not just in the last 6 months) have shown the lesser desired smart phone pretty clearly (Blackberry, in case you needed that spelled out for you again). You then talked about the UK and China...for sh*ts and giggles i went online and found that, like the United States, both examples have the iPhone and the Samsung offerings at the top of the food chain, and Blackberry devices floundering around (again, for years) well below.

My initial point was to say that Blackberry is going to have to sell itself into the iPhone and Galaxy S III world...and to do that, they are going to have to take the Blackberry's "business in the front" personality, modify it A LOT and get back in line with what consumers have shown desire in, what the iPhone and Galaxy S III do so well.

Also, to comment on your "80 million Blackberry users world wide comment", i could bring the iPhone's numbers into this as well...but the difference would be staggering against the Blackberry (in the HUNDREDS of millions in just active users, not even total iPhones period). I'd assume this would clearly explain what people "actually wanted", but you seem to want to stick to your guns that Blackberry is still relevant to the top of the smart phone market. Good luck with that...i hope BB10 is the defibrillator Blackberry's dying heart needs.

I left the blackberry ship many years and years ago and while I hope bb10 revives them, it'll be good to have more competition ... I will be an iPhone user until something better that runs as seamlessly as it does

On a side note bbm is dead ... With iMessage and whatever android is calling their messaging system ... When you can use multiple devices for iMessage and pick up the convo anywhere even on your Mac lol I'd have to ask who wants to pin swap these days lol
