iPhone 5 VS Others
I posted this in the other forums so it's only fair I post here as well. All I am looking for is honest opinions, which would you go for and why. iPhone 5, some Android phone or an WP8. Please say more than just because, I am looking for an actual response. I understand on an Apple forum isn't the best place to ask this but I posted on the others as well and I like opinions. I am eligible for upgrade on Verizon and am curious.
Thanks for the help. - 11-27-2012, 02:07 PM #2
iPhone 5 VS Others
For ease of use you cant beat iphone 5. Also if you own any other apple products it makes the experience seamless.

What are the most important things that you need out of a phone? If we're gonna go down this road, let's at least start with that. Lol

iPhone 5 VS Others
Ease of use, security, talk, text, apps, data, integration (mb pro and Ipad 3 owner), and multimedia functionality. Second to none customer service and product quality. Apple all the way.

If you're just here for opinions how is that going to help you make a decision for yourself? If you're seriously in need of help then list a few things that are most important to you out of a phone...if not, they may as well close this thread now because that's where it will end up.

Re: iPhone 5 VS Others
"Better" is subjective, but BB10 is very different than traditional BlackBerries. It's a totally new device(s), and totally new Operating System. Not an "evolution" of the old BlackBerries, but a new direction (although some of the traditional BlackBerry ideas remain) starting fresh.
There are YouTube videos showing it in action, although it's all still demo units at this point. - 11-27-2012, 06:02 PM

iPhone 5 VS Others
I have had the rest, just prefer the best lol. Android equals security issues (I watched as someone learned that the hard way). Five yr. plus former hardcore bb user (last one was bold 9930). I lived the bb but just wanted something different. Windows phones just don't click with me. It's ecosystem is still so young to me in terms of innovation. Apple equals ease, accessibility, customer service, quality, and innovation. I honestly think the bb 10 phones will be RIM's savior. But I am not seeing myself leaving the apple ecosystem anytime soon.

Re: iPhone 5 VS Others
Nothing better than anything else out there, it's just playing catchup.
I had to choose between the iPhone 5 and SGS3. In the end, I chose iPhone. My decision came down to: screen size (prefer the slightly smaller screen), battery life, build quality, ease of use, and app quality. - 11-27-2012, 07:11 PM #17

iPhone 5 VS Others
I can only speak to Apple and Android, but here are my thoughts. I had Android since the day it was released, and it was really exciting to have this cutting edge technology that was completely customizeable, especially if you wanted to unlock and flash ROMs. But I never did any of that, and even though I had an enormous collection of apps, I only used a tiny percentage of them, and a few widgets ( I DO miss Beautiful Widgets)! The trade off was a constantly glitchy phone, laggy scrolling and crappy calling. Add to that the fact that a "latest and greatest" is released about every two weeks, the OS is STILL not consistent across all phones, and consequently, the apps don't work as well as they could. In my opinion, Android is a hot mess, way too big and they can't keep up with themselves. I briefly considered the Galaxy S3, but it felt so cheaply made, I decided no.
I finally decided, well actually, I decided a year ago but had to wait, that I didn't need all of the options. I just wanted a phone that did CALLS well, was easy to use and beautiful to look at and hold. I have had my 5 for almost two weeks and I am crazy about it! Not a single twinge of regret.
You really do need to be honest with what you want from a phone to make the right decision FOR YOU. - 11-27-2012, 07:24 PM #19

I've tried all the platforms available and I favor iOS by a long shot. Even with BlackBerry 10 coming, iOS is still the favorite.

Re: iPhone 5 VS Others
Opinions are plentiful in posts mirrored to this one in the past 3 months...
Features are listed in detail and further explained on websites for each particular product.
Your question is also grossly generalized...Android phone? Windows 8 phone? While speaking on the iPhone it's easy to deduce you are referring to the newest iteration...in regards to the other ones, there are THOUSANDS of android phones, and many Windows based phones. You might as well have asked "I'm hungry, what food is best and why?""Speed has never killed anyone; suddenly becoming stationary...that's what gets you." - Jeremy Clarkson - 11-27-2012, 10:43 PM #21
iPhone 5 VS Others
I have all the three devices...wp, ios and android...
Apple is the best...
If you pay such a large amount of money, you expect it to be perfect...and thats what iphone is...
Not the wp not the android
Though ill try to put some points which i like...based on my experience...
Wp- i like the black theme, pleasent to eyes.
Smooth ui.
Good social integration.
Very few apps
No bluetooth sharing
Can be used for sometime for a change.
Android - love the widgets
Bluetooth sharing
Good google apps
Apps better thn wp
Lots of option (i take it as a downside, your phone will be old in just a month)
Open system(sometimes good, sometimes bad) u might end up screwing ur phone, which in my case i did a lot of times trying to root and changing system files.
On android you always gonna try to make it a perfect phone, i used so many phones, none was perfect...you will end up rooting, custom roms, and lots of things which gonna waste ur time.
Most of the features are useless, just for show off, for few days you will like them a lot, then it will become useless.
Iphone - a class,if you have an iphone that means u have an IPHONE(no need to describe its features to other, like in the case of android)
Best apps
Smooth
A perfect smart phone
It will be new for one whole year lol...(you will save a lot of money, but if you buy an android, you will end up buying a new phone every two months, if u a gadget freak like me)
Ull be satisfied with what u have(never in the case of android and wp, no matter how expensive or great the phone is)
There are few issues, but not to worry about.. It will get sloved with the new update, and thats for sure.
You dont have to wait for the update for ages lol... - 11-28-2012, 06:44 AM #22
iPhone 5 VS Others
I just got my 2nd iPhone since I bought the 1st generation iPhone. In between I had few blackberry and used few android device. Honestly it's a matter of preference. Not saying android is better or iPhone is better. But iPhone has advantages over other phones because they have all the apps you ever want. I have iPhone 5 and Bold 9900 and I love them both.

Re: iPhone 5 VS Others
It's basically like this.
The iphone is best from an overall perspective..point of sale, apps, support, screen quality, ecosystem, down to reselling it (all part of my criteria of course). But if you want a larger screen or want cheaper and can accept compromises, you get WP8 or android. Then there's phones like the Nexus 4 which is just an amazing off contract value and can be used on cheaper prepaid plans.
You can set up comparisons all day but each user has their own criteria. For some, battery life is the most important. For others, not so much. You have to figure out your criteria. Do this and come back. - 11-28-2012, 05:52 PM #24

Re: iPhone 5 VS Others
Well after using the galaxy S3 for a total of about 2 weeks I gave up. Android is nice and all but the customization got boring. I totally regretted selling my black iPhone 5 32gb that I got on launch day for this phone. Jellybean still lags. I was having a hard time getting good battery life. The typing wasn't as smooth as the iPhone. I felt everyday I was changing something and things went downhill from there. The last 3 days I had horrible battery life. When I found myself digging for apps on google play that would simplify my life the way iOS did...this is when I gave up. I sold the galaxy...I broke even actually so I didn't lose any money. I bought a new 5 16GB...this time I got it white and I'm glad I did...having the black and now the white I totally prefer white. For now I'm happy and glad to be back on iPhone 5. Today I would agree my top 3 favorite phones that ive used and liked are 1.i5 2.i4S 3.bb9930. Im not gonna lie im interested in BB10...it looks promising and I don't think RIM is dead. I'll probably get one and try it for a lil bit and then come back to my trusty iPhone LOL
