Who has a Surface tablet?

I have read about how crappy they are but that only makes me want to use it more. I want to see for myself what the experience is really like. The only problem is that I don't want to keep it I have an iPad. So if there was a clear return policy I would order one. Does anyone here have one? thoughts?

If there's a Microsoft store in your area just go check one out. They are also putting up lots of popup store kiosks in various malls for the holidays.

not here in Canada the offerings here are sparse. We just got our first MS store and it is hours and two cities away from me :-(

I was at staples today. It caught my eye and I wanted to play with it. One of the guys came over and started telling me how awesome it was and even how apple is going to have to step it up. After about 6 -10 minutes of BSing, the darn thing never started up. Just sat there spinning saying preparing lol. He kept saying I shouldn't of loaded the demo. Lol. Whatever. So it never started and I never got to play with it. I told him I had to leave and that maybe next time it'll be working lol.

It's not that bad. The touch is finally usable as is the keyboard... But with the keyboard cover it gains a real keyboard (not tactile though.. And soft so it wears quick) and i like having a touchpad. I don't think I'd use it without the keyboard, though.

I have a surface rt tablet. It is great. I suggest getting it if you use it has a tablet. If you run desktop apps, get the pro or put windows 8 on your Mac.

Do you get more than 4 hours of battery life? That's all we are getting for constant use testing.

Once you use and drain the tablet for like 4 days, it lasts like 7+ hours.

Hmmm. Not what we are seeing at all. The devices get just about 4 hours from full charge to full discharge. Two different devices, three weeks testing so far.

Hmm. Are you leaving all apps running? That drains it. You can stop them by going to your task manager.

Word of advice: if you want to say nice things about a Microsoft product, I wouldn't suggest an Apple forum. We like Apple products and generally hate the experience on Windows or Android devices.

Just because you like apple doesn't mean you need to hate Microsoft.

Apple makes the iPad for tablet computing. Tablets aren't ready for a full desktop OS, which is why Apple hasn't made it. I suspect in 2-3 years we will see mobile computing power reach desktop level and then Apple will make a tablet with a unified Mac OS. When that is the case, ill buy it.

Microsoft is taking Windows, which was built for desktops, adding touch, and putting it into tablets that are under powered and don't have enough battery capacity. I'm sure it'll be better in maybe 2 years, but its not very good right now.

Crazy I made this thread and totally forgot about it. I'm sad to see that it's gone down the them vs us road. I have tried the RT and didn't like it at all. I heard the pro is much better but at the price it's more of a MacBook Air competitor than an iPad competitor. I would have liked if it was actually nice to use but as someone who uses both OSes daily I fiind Microsoft's approach of trying to make it seem like a no compromise solution faulty. People use the Surface RT expecting it to replace their laptop and it just wont.

The surface pro is great, but I suggest waiting for the next model. And the surface rt 2 and surface book will be great.
