iMore articles with FAKE information about other brands!
It's sad but it seems that nowdays iMore will just do anything to pass the image that Apple invents and introduces everything to this industry and all the other brands are just followers, even when there is evidence to the contrary!
I was perplexed when I read this iMore article in the other day.
It is said:
Let me ask this: REALLY???Once news got out that Apple would be holding an iPhone event on September 12, every competitor and their platform partner scrambled to announce events ahead of time. Mostly. The first was Nokia's Windows Phone event this morning, which showed off the new flagship Nokia Lumia 920 with a brief nod to the mode budget-friendly Nokia Lumia 820.
Nokia announced that Nokia World 2012 would take place on September 5th back in May!!!
Evidence was written on May 23rd... when Nokia announced that they were going to move Nokia World 2012 from September 25th to September 5th. Way before any Apple iPhone5 event announcement or invitation (official or rumours).
You can read:
Now, I sent this information to the author of the mentioned iMore article asking for an apology.Nokia has announced that they are moving their annual Nokia World conference a bit earlier, from the 25th September to the 5th and 6th September.
Why do I think that a public apology is needed? Because many many people come to iMore everyday. Its articles are read by thousands of people and are taken as true. Even when they aren't! And then these people go spread this kind of misinformation around to his frinds, families, colleagues, etc, and those will also take it as true! Is this fair?
Is this one of the reasons why Apple has such good press, while other brands are being trashed everyday, everywhere? Is this how Apple wants to be number one?
Do you know what did I receive as an answer when I asked the author for a public apology? NOTHING! I'm still waiting for it. Because when people make mistakes they apologize for them.
Thank you all.Last edited by poiman; 09-09-2012 at 08:08 PM.

I think although it was legally construed that phone manufacturers like Samsung did copy the iPhone, smartphone designs has since come a long way. For example, the latest Nokias and Samsungs (S3) doesn't look anything like a copy of the iPhone.
In fact, I think Apple will have a hard time trying to come up with something that blows our minds off again like when the iPhone first came out. - 09-10-2012, 05:56 AM

I just want to ask something here. Was the Nokia event mentioned in the iMore post the Nokia World? As far as I know, Nokia World takes place in Helsinki, Finland, and the Windows Phone event took place in New York. So I think you are talking about two different events here.

Yes, the event was part of the Nokia World. They announced on May 23rd that they were going to make some changes to the event this year:
We have made some changes to the format and date of Nokia World 2012. Instead of a single, large-scale event as we have had in years past, we will run a number of smaller, more intimate events with specific audiences in mind. Think less CES, more SXSW. - 09-10-2012, 08:56 AM #7
But here in WPCentral's post (Nokia-Microsoft-WPCentral), they stated that the Nokia Windows Phone event and Nokia World are two different events?
As far as I know, Nokia announced their New York event on August 15th (I also included The Verge article about the Nokia Windows Phone event invitation)What makes this interesting is the fact that Nokia is to have Nokia World at the same time. But it now looks like that event may be downgraded for carriers and partners only with the main press event for new-phone announcement happening in New York instead

They are all part of the Nokia World new format, which doesn't have to mean that any of the smaller events has to be called "Nokia World". Actually last week there were also private Nokia events for carriers in Helsinki. Everything is going along as planned in the announcement made by Nokia on May 23rd.

If what you're saying is true and Nokia had it planned since May, then that only makes it sadder for what actually happened. Faked video, faked pics, no release date, no prices, etc. It "looked" as if things were thrown together at the last second.
I'm not sure why the OP is having this reaction This is an Apple enthusiast site. - 09-11-2012, 09:38 AM #10
