Well there's your first problem. Rumours are not facts, nor do they signify anything other than someone's interpretation of some (usually) obscure data that they found somewhere.

As for QNX car, I've watched the videos, and still see nothing about the "future" of Blackberry phones.

I see a QNX based system being licensed to auto manufacturers. It's a good system, but it doesn't help the phone division of RIMberry in any way.
They're 2 separate things. Heck, the UI in the Car 2 system looks better than the UI in BB10 for crying out loud.

Here's the double edged sword with Apple (though i don't think it's really a sword, as that implies a negative connotation)...iOS is both the strength and the "weakness" (to some) of the Apple brand. It's a simple OS in native form, it's remained the same for many years so it's familiar, and it's still liked and preferred by enough people to make the iPhone a record breaking device upon each iteration's release.

Now as much as we want to sit around and think that the number of people yearning for major feature overhauls and a general revamping of the OS are the majority, they are, in fact, the vast MINORITY...most consumers are happy with iOS, they like the simplicity and familiarity, and they love to have it with new hardware features each year, even if iOS looks, feels and performs the same, because that "same" is exactly what they WANT.

You're not going to see a major overhaul to iOS because Apple doesn't need to do that to keep the majority of their consumer base happy...they release an iPhone with hardware upgrades each year, and a few tweaks to iOS, and they break records. As a company, to change this would be foolish for them, they are swimming in money every time they release a new product, they have one of (if not THE) highest customer satisfaction rating in the field, and let's face it, it does "just work", which is what people want.

I think it's hard for people to grasp the idea that Apple makes the most desired device of the cell phone world, which is not the same on their computer side (their computer side is still a luxury side, but it's changing too)...they have a safe, feature packed, reliable, nice looking device that people flock in droves to buy...what is Apple's "next big thing"? Breaking records again this year with a device people want.

You don't. They've found that what they have works so why bother? You tweak it to make it newer but you don't change it.

How does it have an advantage? I still see more cars manufacturers incorporating iPhone features in their cars despite this being QNX's forte.

I always like to refer back to the Porsche analogy because it fits so well...a company that builds high end performance cars, but has left them relatively the same visually for the better part of the last 50 years. One day the designers get this wild hair, and against the wishes of the higher ups (initially), they designed the 996 chassis, the first time the familiar 911 was changed drastically...and it flopped. People were screaming to the heavens "If it aint broke don't fix it!", and Porsche listened (after taking a pretty big financial blow), they reevaluated what worked for the 911, and found out that they did indeed mess up a good thing, the car was redesigned (and was reverted back to what was working for all intents and purposes)...and they are back on track.

The iPhone is more than working right now, it's success is of a magnitude that few companies get to enjoy.

But this isn't an iPhone thread...and Blackberry isn't even in the same league right now (and from what I've seen/read...won't be with this device either), so comparing this phone to the iPhone is like comparing a Porsche to a Ford F150 or something.

You're right. As for as it being a weakness to some, it is, but only to techie types. Apple's primary target are satisfied with it & have been for quite some time.

I am hoping for a somewhat revamped UI, I would easily forgo it in favor of making the current UI more common sense useful. Adding a select all feature anywhere there's a accumulation of data, allow users to access & edit documents & photos in iCloud from their mobile devices & add some enhancements to core apps like Calendar, Reminder and Mail, to name a few.

I don't think it's difficult for them to grasp, but I do think that our society has fallen for the "mighty must fall" way of thinking.

No, I'm talking about manufacturers incorporating all your iOS social networking into their latest infotainment systems as well as other things like Siri with a dedicated button on the steering wheel.

The PlayBook has been out for nearly 2 years and I'm yet to see a manufacturer release an infotainment system incorporating it in a production car. The concepts that I've seen sure look nice though but they are just that... Concepts only.

Anyway, I'm not big on these infotainment systems but car manufacturers have pretty much embraced Apple in this regard due to their extensive ecosystem.

I also didn't mean to imply you said something is wrong with Apple.

The more I use my iPhone 5, the more I realize that the only mistake I made in ditching blackberry was not doing it sooner.

I had that same problem. I should have dumped my BB when the first six Curves had to be replaced due to bad hardware.

I would probably get this phone if the iPhone didnt exist or started to suck. I think it looks ok, needs some work but that comes with time.
Apple built it, so it will work.
