    Default Alleged Blackberry 10 L-Series Walk-Through Video

Check out the video. In my opinion, it is too Android-like. Not that it's a bad thing, but it doesn't give me the impression of being Blackberry.

I think it looks cool. The only thing I'm looking for is some smooth solid software and great apps that are already on iOS and android. They can't come out the gate having a mediocre selection of apps like what they have in app world right now. It's promising that I see dropbox in this video on the phone so hopefully they can get other apps and games on there by launch.

The device itself is not bad at all. It looks quite slick, in my opinion.

The way the software appeared in the video was Android-like. I'm not saying it's bad or that is didn't appear fluid or anything, but it didn't give me the distinct feeling of it being a Blackberry. As for wanting great apps like on other devices, I agree. That would be nice.

I agree. Their business livelihood is on the line and they have to come out the gate swinging.

No I understand what your saying about it looking a little like android. I'm just saying along with your point they just have to knock it out of the park with this bb10 thing. They have another one that's suppose to come out that has a qwerty keyboard too. Hopefully they will release it on time too without another delay.

I like what I see, but will have to check it out in person when it's out. It'll need those "key" apps available to stand a chance, but i'm cautiously optimistic. My next smartphone will be either that, an iPhone 5, or some sort of Nexus device.

Can I just say.. If anything at all, it's the IOS and Android platform that look very much alike which is why you have Apple suing Samsung and HTC left, right and centre.

BlackBerry is doing something different even though.. i can see similarities in various places with every OS which means IOS, Android and Windows Phone. Too say it's Android-like specifically is a bit of a hater-like statement.

I'm definitely getting a BlackBerry once released.

While watching the video, the UI have me the impression of an Android phone. It didn't have its own identity. If I had not seen the Blackberry logo or the any other Blackberry items, I would automatically assumed I was looking at a preview of an upcoming Android phone. Don't misunderstand me. I am not knocking Android. I am merely saying that from what >>I<< saw in that video, the UI reminded me of Android instead of something uniquely Blackberry. I hope that made sense.

No. I was not and am not hating on Android in any way, shape or form. I don't have and have never had a problem with Android. Anyway, there are distinct and obvious differences between the UIs of the iPhone, Android devices and Windows mobile devices, especially Windows 8 mobile. There should be a distinction with Blackberry, as well, however, I found, "based solely on the preview video", that the UI of BB10 closely resembled that of Android and not something distinctly Blackberry and I stand by my opinion. If you disagree, fine. I don't have a problem with that, but don't call my opinion hater-like simply because you disagree. Anyway, take care and enjoy the rest if your day....

Probably because its a brand new OS for the company. The days of OS 5,6,7 are just about gone. This OS will be what all future BB will have.

Makes sense and you're probably right. Hopefully, it will prove to be successful for them. I doubt they'll get another chance at redemption. I loved the Blackberry devices I've owned over the years and wouldn't mind using a future one if it is worthy in my opinion. Know what I mean? Anyway, thanks for the feedback and have a safe and pleasant day...

Device looks nice, but again I have not seen hands on with the true hardware. Everything can always look good on video or presentations... real life usage matters...

As for the OS, Apps are going to make this OS something. if not then there really is not much. It looks like a solid core OS. But again Apps will drive this machine..

It's a combination of Android and iOS with BlackBerry services added in. They really did take a lot of the good stuff from both OS'es and put it together.

Took away all the buttons and made everything pure gesture based. Then they added in the best browser, BBM, and push email. This should be a solid entry and fill the 3rd place spot that Windows Phone couldn't fill.

This doesn't look Blackberry-like, because its NOTHING LIKE ANYTHING BLACKBERRY HAS EVER DONE BEFORE! This is a totally new OS. Also to say it looks like Android, or it looks like iOS is to say that one box of cereal looks like every other box of cereal. True to some extent, but not so true in others. This is a new box of cereal, but yes it still is rectangular with rounded corners and has a big piece of glass on the front, and yes it runs apps and has an operating system, and yes it makes phone calls - so yes it does look a little like an iPhone or an Android phone.

I did not say it did not look Blackberry-like. I said it was Android-like and that it didn't give me the impression of being distinctly Blackberry.

    True
Also to say it looks like Android, or it looks like iOS is to say that one box of cereal looks like every other box of cereal.
Wrong. I specifically stated that there were distinct differences between the user interface of iOS, Android & Windows mobile devices. That is not saying that "one box of cereal looks like every other box of cereal". It is saying the opposite.
True to some extent, but not so true in others.

Go back and re-read my comments. I said that the UI (user interface) is Android-like. In other words, it reminds >>me> of Android. Period. If you disagree, so be it. I do not have a problem with that nor do I expect everyone to agree with my opinion or come to the same conclusion. Being that my opinion was based "solely" on a viewed video, it may change after I've physically experimented with the device after it is released.

I guess I can't tell you if it looks like an Android UI or not, since I'm not familiar with Android. I think we'll all see some interesting surprises come Jan 30. But I do have a craving for a bowl of cereal now! ;-)

The problem BB has...is being good out of the gate, so this new CEO seems to be doing things right. Example, last year they said that BB10 (then called 7) would already be here...they were wrong, and delayed it,6,9,12 months. Then, they released a Playbook.....but it didn't have native things like email/3G/BBM until 8 months later (though having no 3G was great because IF you had a BB you could tether for free via bluetooth) but it shows that they have been marketing something, that isn't done yet....much like why a lot of people don't like MS computers. They release a crappy unstable OS (I'm looking at you Windows ME) just to get it in the hands of people and then they want to release patches after the fact.

BB10 looks like they laid it all on the line, and it will work, because if it fails, there won't be a BB11. And if there is, it will be owned by some other company, which is bad for innovation, prices, and us customers in the long run.

It will take a lot more than an OS to Bring BB back.... we will see. the OS looks like it's in Beta.... Hope it's done soon...

The hardware is very nice on this new device, also. The body of the phone is aluminum, similar to the iPhone. The glass screen is set into the metal frame, unlike the iPhone where it's set flush on top of the frame. The back is a plastic composite. The reason for a composite back is the NFC functions that RIM has heavily invested into BB10. They can't have a metal back and NFC connection. That's probably also part of the reason that Apple doesn't have NFC on the iPhone yet. Metal doesn't let the signal through.

RIM has invested in top-notch cameras, memory, and processing chips. Expect to see at least 1.5 GHz, dual core in the phones. Also, at least 1 GB of memory. BB has some big things coming.
