It to me has a bit of a Win8 look at times and a bit of an iOS. The app grid looks like iOS to me and the run app, active frames as they call them remind me of Win8. HOWEVER, the Hub is something new as are the swiping gestures. If you have had time to play with the OS you would know it's quite a bit different than anything else we have seen. If anything it's closest to the PlayBook OS from which is has evolved, but it's so much more. I think folks are going to be pleasantly surprised.

Ok will this replace iOS as the dominant smartphone? I highly doubt it, BUT will it put RIM back in the ball park? THAT is very possible!

I do agree that BB10 will not replace iOS but it will give Apple a few things to think about.
The physical home button on iOS devices and limited multitasking will look dated in the face of the on screen swipe gestures and full multitasking of the BB10 devices and I'm sure that Apple will want to follow. The problem is that it would require a redesign of both hardware and software that we have not seen since the first iPhone. Apple has the resources, but do they have the will to do that?

I think BlackBerry 10 could very well replace iOS and Android just like they did to Palm back in the day. We will see how things look in 2014.

Being a blackberry fan, I am hoping that RIM find a lot of success with BB10, however, I am not expecting BB10 to "replace iOS and Android" because, like the aforementioned, it will not appeal to everyone. As for me, unless the upcoming Blackberry devices stands out far and above the rest, I have no doubt that the device that will replace my iPhone 4S will be another iPhone.

I agree completely. I've been a BlackBerry fan for several years. I don't see BB10 replacing iOS. Depending how successful it is this year they could get back into the game. Let's see where RIM is a year from today. As for me, I'm happy with my iPhone 4S.

    Replace? No.
Offer a viable third option? Possibly.

I'm not a fan of the UI & the straight keyboard (I hate the straight virtual keyboard on the torch). I like the blackberry hub feature a lot, however it's going to take a lot from RIMM to win me over at this point.
