can i delete OS X photos

if i delete the photos app , will i also loose the photos from i-photo?

If iPhoto is still present in your Applications folder, you can still run it by selecting it, right clicking and selecting Show Package Contents > Contents > MacOS > double click iPhoto. It will open with a terminal window, but it will run ok. There is no other way round this.
