Hi

I am going to get an new 11" MBA soon, but I am still debating whether to get i5 or i7. Some people say i7 has a lot more power and better battery life, but some claim i5 is not that much slower and cooler on the keyboard. Can someone who have used them offer me any advice? Many thanks.

If you got the money go for the i7.

Agreed. The i7 may not get better battery life (advertised at 5-7 hours) but it is substantially more powerful. Not only is the i7 more processor than the i5, but the i7 (1.8ghz) is also running at a higher clock speed than the i5 (1.6ghz) and more L3 cache.

From Apple - MacBook Air - Compare the 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air.
1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with 3MB shared L3 cache
$1199 model configurable to dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Core i7 with 4MB shared L3 cache, only at the Apple Online Store.

I was debating whether to upgrade to 256GB or i7. In the end, I finally made up my mind to max the SSD out to 256GB. I think I will love it.

Not sure how it is on the 11". But just saw a video comparing the i5 to i7 on the 13". They did different tests an the i7 is only a couple of seconds faster. Not worth it in my opinion. Just go to YouTube and search for MacBook Air Wars and check it out.
