When I connect my iPad to my computer and start iTunes it won't sync. I've tried it the other way as well. Not sure if this is relevant, but when I plug it in to charge it says "not charging", however it does charge it. So confused??

Question: When you open iTunes with your iPad plugged in does it recognize it in the side bar?
Question: When you say it won't sync, do you get a pop up message giving you a code or reason? Or??
Question: Does it start to sync but then fails?
We need some more info to help..
As for the charging, I have an original iPad and it does not charge it when its plugged into my laptop.
