Default Why does my iPad(1) take so long to update?

I have tried updating my iPad a few times, and it takes like 3 hours to back up, and then someone in my family wants to use it, so I have to unplug it. So I was wondering if this is normal for an iPad to take so long to update, or if it is just doing nothing.

It shouldn't take near that long.....unless during the update you're trying to sync large files, several movies, etc.

it may because of the number of new iPads and itunes server capacity. Try out when the traffic slows down a bit.

you mean when syncing or updating. In either case, i think syncing takes forever too. I hope these devices become thunderbolt compatilble.
