Crap! iPad 1 bricked after update to 4.3!

Anyone else have this issue? My wife updated her iPad 1 to 4.3 today and now all it will do is show a near empty battery when it's reset or turned on. It had about 90% battery when it was updated. Also it will not even show on iTunes. I am not happy, but I do have a service agreement on it so it will be fixed or replaced anyways but I'd rather not have to use the SA for something that could be fixed by advice from the peanut gallery. Update. I was going to try and see if another computer would see it and when I unplugged it from the charger it suddenly popped up with the regular ol' slider screen. Anyone else experience this odd behaviour?

I wonder if trying a restore and updating again will fix this problem
