Tried the 4.3 beta.

The beta never did finish installing, it stopped not even half way. so I then tried restoring to 4.2.1. iPad is stuck in recovery and won't turn on. I heard I have to wait until 4.3 beta 2.

Why don't you try 4.3 again and see if it finishes installing? I thought the 4.3 beta was for the iPhone only??? You could also try putting your iPad into DFU mode which allows you to install the OS without loading the one that's currently on the device.

4.3 is also for the iPad. They have new features like the option for the side switch and that annoying "sex" gestures for pinching and moving around

I heard about those features but thought they were just rumored. It's good to know they're keeping all the devices at the same firmware level fo now.

It will not finish installing. It has been a nightmare. I have tried everything possible to kick my iPad ot of recovery or restore it. Nothing is working, but I have heard to wait until 4.3 beta 2 is released.

well i read somewere installing iOS 4.3b1 need iOS SDK 4.3 required.

Are you a registered developer? The beta version require the serial number of the device to be registered with a developer account. I don't know if that would stop it installing but its not going to work even if you do get it Installed.

I installed 4.3 and the phone went to recovery mode after install. I used tiny umbrella to kick it out of recovery mode and all was fine.

google tiny umbrella and try that. Im pretty sure you cant go back to 4.2.1 unless you saved your SHSH BLOBS

I don't see why he wouldn't be able to restore to 4.2 since that's the current one? So why would he need his shsh blobs saved? Does 4.3 upgrade the baseband? maybe that's why you're having problems going back to 4.2? I don't really know so I'm just speculating.

03.10.01 is 4.3 baseband. Im pretty sure you can't restore back to 4.2.1.

The OP is correct, one of my friends is having the same exact situation as well, the ipad won't bypass recovery mode and itunes reports that he needs to have a developer account in order to evaluate now the ipad won't go back to 4.2 which is odd because 4.3 is not even an official release, tried all the work arounds but nothing seems to make the ipad function again, i hope this gets fixed when b2 or final release is out.

My friend which is a developer registered all of my devices. so the beta should of installed, but it didn't

I'm not updating my iPhone 4. The iPad is the one I experiment with ha.

that link tells me I have to access the etc folder on my mac. yeah? I have no clue how to do that.
