WiFi Speed - a little off topic

Apologies as this is not a pure iPad topic, but may interest other iPad users. If one is operating a 802.11 N router with two devices attached; one running the older G speed and the iPad running N, will the iPad benefit from the N speeds or will all devices on the network only receive G speed (lowest common denominator)?
