Storage capacity?

Any word on storage sizes? I've read about the possibility of 8GB and 16GB but what about 32GB? 8GB seems almost pointless (aside from getting the costs down) but I'd hate for there not to be at least an option for a higher capacity like 32GB.

Im wondering if they wont just go 8 and 16 the 8 being used as more of an ereader type device and the 16 more media based. It would work price wise 8 for 199 and 16 for 299. I still do not need any more than 16 as I avg about 5-6 worth of everyday stuff and I personally do not find it that difficult to sync it to the computer and replace old media with new or just swap out as I dont need to have everything with me all the time. I just want this thing to me released already so I can destroy this garbage playbook and get back into a product that will actually do its job and give me options to add more functions with working apps.

Considering that the iPad mini will be a cheaper price modell than the current iPad, I believe 8GB and maybe 16GB is going to be the max amount of storage that you're going to get with the iPad mini.

I dont think Apple will ever make a device have less than 16 GB again. I could be completely wrong, but I dont see it. Partly because there just isnt enough space to store almost anything on an 8 GB anything, after the OS is loaded and your left with around 5 GB to actually use. And I also dont see iClound being the kind of service to help alleviate that.

For that reason, I dont see the iPad mini hitting the $199 mark. It think it might be $250 for 16 GB, which would put the same as the Nexus 7 for the same storage. If it does manage to be $199, it will be with 16 GB, which will basically kill the Nexus 7 which has half of that for the same price. To hit that, I think they would save money off other things, like a camera, and non retina screen, rather than limit storage, because that just hurts the entire experience when you buy an iPad, download 5 apps and realize you have run out of space.

I'm thinking we'll see either one of these lineups:

16GB $299
32GB $399

or

8GB $249
16GB $349
32GB $449

and then whatever extra they charge for 3G/4G cellular

I tend to agree. At $199-$249 the cost of the device is going to need to stay low. This of of course if Apple goes with the lower price. I personally would LOVE to see a $199 price point but I believe it'll be more like $299. If that's the case it'll need to have more memory (e.g. 32GB) since we all know Apple will never offer expandable memory.

I'm hopeful these won't be the prices, especially the $449. But when you really look at Apple & their margins they probably won't see much difference between the full size iPad & the iPad mini.
