The Car Thread
I'm a huge car enthusiast, so I was just wondering what others on iMore drove and what cars were their favorites!
My current car is a 2012 BMW 335is coupe. Mineral White with Coral Red interior. 320 horses and a true twin turbo producing 370 lb/ft of torque. I can chip/tune the car to get more output, but as of yet, I don't really need any more power!
Here are some pics!

My dad also just got the new 2013 Mercedes SL550 roadster in a special matte grey finish. Such a sick car! It's V8 produces 429 horsepower and 516 lb/ft of torque, also a twin turbo. Not going to lie, it's a monster, but it's handling is shaky compared to my BMW... I just love the hardtop convertible function and the the paint finish!!

My favorite car is probably the new Ferrari 458 Italia roadsteriPhone5: white, 32GB, Verizon; iPad3: white, 32GB, LTE Verizon - iOS6 - 01-30-2013, 03:26 PM #2
Re: The Car Thread
It was buried a bit, but we have a pretty lengthy car thread...check it out here...
What do you drive ?
...i have a Raptor that i want to sell desperately so i can get another M3, but the market sucks balls right now.
The M sport kit looks fantastic on that 335, i just can't justify the cost over getting a used E92 M3...still a very nice looking car though man, and wonderful color combo."Speed has never killed anyone; suddenly becoming stationary...that's what gets you." - Jeremy Clarkson - 01-30-2013, 03:35 PM #3

Re: The Car Thread
Should I reply to that thread, or keep this new one? I searched for 'car' and 'cars' but didn't search for 'drive' haha
Maybe a MOD/Admin can merge the threads?
And thanks. The 'is' version of the 335 definitely has a great kit... modified Msport look, with a custom rear diffuser and exhaust, plus a tune from BMW and overboost function. Interior is also awesome (love the coral red!!)
For some reason, I've always been told by my parents never to buy used... their financial sense; not mine... but in this case, the car is a lease, so I wouldn't have gotten used anyways.
I'm a fan of the M3, but at this point, would wait for the new M4 coupe that is on the horizon - a proposed 415hp turbocharged inline6 with 395 lb/ft of torque!! (If you are more of a sedan guy, BMW is making the 3 series sedan only, and the 4 series the coupes, so the next M3 will be a sedan with the same engine as I stated above)
At times I 'regret' not either getting a slightly used M3, or putting in more money for a lease on an M3, but I'm 19 and the 335is is more than enough car for me. Even though the payments come out of any allowance/salary I have and the down payment was all from money I made interning over summers, I obviously could not afford a car like a BMW on my own merit without my parents' help, so it was ultimately their decision.
thanks!iPhone5: white, 32GB, Verizon; iPad3: white, 32GB, LTE Verizon - iOS6 - 01-30-2013, 04:36 PM #5

Re: The Car Thread
It's driving me crazy that they are calling the new one the M4 or whatever iteration it's going to be...why they are messing with the names is beyond me, but I'll tell you this, the M6 Grand Coupe is a beautiful car, so their design work is certainly keeping my attention. I had an E46 M3 for a while and i miss it, thought i would enjoy having a truck but it has proven to be more hassle than it's worth (people always needing help with something) and i just miss the planted feel of a sporty car.
I actually drove a 335is about a year ago and absolutely loved it...I'm very excited about an M3 with a turbo, i have a little daily driver GTI that is tuned a bit and there's just nothing like a turbo powered sports car, the feel of the torque is great, and I'm willing to get rid of the linear acceleration feel for the more brutal onset of a nice turbo setup.
Also, screw you for having that car at 19! lol...*******.

Re: The Car Thread
I agree with the naming... now there will be a 1 series (hatch?), 2 series (coupe), 3 series (sedan), 4 series (coupe/gran coupe), 5 series (sedan) 6 series (coupe/gran coupe) and 7 series (sedan)... plus the Z line roadster and the X1,X3,X5,X6... just too many 'series' Keep it simple!!
GTi is an amazing car, a good friend of mine has one in a 6MT and he owns the canyons. E46 M3 is a fun car too! I agree that a nice high revving V8 is amazing, but turbo cars are really just great... so much power and twisting force at the whole rev band.
I like the way that BMW design is going, but I've heard bad things about the performance and handling of the new cars (F30 3 series in particular). But M cars are always of a different breed, so I'm not worried!!
And I definitely know how lucky I am to have what I have at such a young age. :PiPhone5: white, 32GB, Verizon; iPad3: white, 32GB, LTE Verizon - iOS6 - 01-30-2013, 07:40 PM #8

Re: The Car Thread
I think the new C7 was a nice shot at Europe and Ferrari...but when i saw that new Stingray, i did not see a corvette, which was a bit depressing.
Don't get me wrong through, I bet the car is an absolute dream to drive, and i bet even that low end Stingray is a screamer on the track...i can't wait to see how it fairs vs. the C6 Z06 (since apparently, THAT is where the bar is with this new one...we'll see i guess).
One day when i can afford to, I'm going to own a C5 Z06...one of my favorite cars of all time."Speed has never killed anyone; suddenly becoming stationary...that's what gets you." - Jeremy ClarksonThanked by:DaPhoneking (03-01-2013)
