I have not been able to figure out why forums, including this one, will let you know if a person is online. There is not where to "chat" is there?

I'm just wondering if I'm missing something.

It's helpful to know if there's anyone online that might be able to quickly respond to a post you make. It might make the difference between sticking around a few minutes or just coming back in a few hours to look for a response.
