Currently, it's 83. Our high for the day is supposed to be 101 with a heat index of anywhere from 110-115.

It's gonna be a long, hot summer. If I had a soul, I'd owe it to the power company but you know how gingers are. :)

Outside: 90 degrees
Inside: a refreshing 67 degree

Thank God for air conditioning!!

--------------------

I grew up in Indiana... many days of temps in mid-90s with 80-90% humidity.

And re: dry heat: so is my oven - the chicken still gets cooked.

Fausty, I just got back from our annual family vacation - this year in Las Vegas. It was 105-108 everyday but was a "dry heat." Your oven/chicken analogy is perfect! I felt like a hairdryer was being blown in my face every time I went outdoors. That, plus the terrible nose bleeds I had all week (from the heat/dryness), makes me hope our family picks a slightly "moister" place next year.

Living in Indiana too. Tried to play golf yesterday in the middle of the corn fields where the course is located....101 degrees !!! Lasted 6 holes. These temps have been going on now for over 10 days and no rain. Can't even hear the corn growing at night because of the heat. Have to play in a tournament on Saturday and it is supposed to be 101 degrees. Should be interesting.

That is the only good thing about the heat is my grass is dead. While my neighbors are frantically watering their lawns day in and day out, I'll be waving from my air conditioned living room while they're out in the heat mowing their lawns and I'm not.

Meanwhile...in the Corn Patch...

My cement yard NEVER needs to be mowed! I do have some nice rose bushes though in a tiny little box garden. Here they are.....

This is what they looked like before we started tending them! (ok I admit my girlfriend does MOST of the tending)......
