Recycling Old Electronic Junk

I have a box full of outdated electronic equipment consisting of modems, cell phones, coax cables, AV Cables, power adapters, phone wires, ethernet cables, and various other junk. I can't find anywhere locally that recycles this type of stuff, and I hate to just throw it away. Does anybody know of any company that buys or accepts this type of stuff?

Where are you located? Is there a Data Doctors location near you? In Arizona, they partner with a couple of recycling programs about every 3 months and do a recycle drive... There's bad stuff in that equipment that should not just be tossed in the landfill...

I live in South Louisiana, and I just found a place that's about an hour drive away that will take it. Thanks for your help though.
