Try turning off 3G. T-Mobile's 3G service is not compatible with your iPhone and will cause problems staying connected with T-Mobile. Edge data will work ok.

AFAIK, UltraSnow unlock doesn't work past 4.0.1 at this time.

FYI, T-Mobile's 3G data is not compatible with the iPhone's frequencies, so there is no reason for you to have 3G turned on while using a T-Mobile SIM, however you can leave Cellular Data turned on to allow access to T-Mobile's Edge data. Keeping 3G turned off will extend your battery life.
