So, I realized my error. In accessibility settings, I had enabled rest to unlock, which was the problem. Once I unchecked that option, I could use Touch ID to unlock the message contents and see them on the lock screen.
With Express VPN, I have had issues with the connection staying connected and switching from LTE to a work guest WiFi access. Not sure if it is express vpn or iOS 11.
My issue with some of these 3rd party services is that the store messages on their servers for certain situations (push notifications, etc) and makes me a bit leery to let others have access to the account.
So, no connection issues with Apple Watch (if you have one)?
Facetime is working perfectly for you? Cannot get it to properly work in a call or initiate call on own.

Not only that, but with TouchID enabled to unlock the phone and messages to show preview WHEN UNLOCKED, when trying to unlock the phone, it goes straight to the home screen instead of showing previews on cover sheet.
Were you on the Public Beta or the developer profile? I am getting more and more tempted as there are a number of issues with this developer 2/public beta release.
Anyone with a 6S+ or higher, using TouchID to login and show message content when unlocked noticing once you utilize TouchID, it is going straight to home screen?
Plug in via lightning connector. Power + home, release power button, continue home button. iTunes pops up about being in recovery mode. That is DFU mode, correct?
Again, some of you might have had that luck, but so far, that path has not worked for me. I had Beta 1 installed and tried to downgrade to 10.3.x and nothing I did ever worked. I am running 11 now because of this.
Nitpicky, but to me, the description for temporary should be first and then the description for persistent, given the order they graphically show on the screen.
Apple posted restore images for 10.3.3 and I am really tempted to give it one more shot and just see what happens. I basically have a non-communicating watch and from other forums I have read, there is little hope in a re-connection with the current build of iOS 11
