Steve Jobs has confirmed this now... And gives a very lame excuse.. Newsweek quotes Steve Jobs: "You don?t want your phone to be an open platform....You need it to work when you need it to work. Cingular doesn't want to see their West Coast network go down because some application messed up."

Agreed the Treo and iphone to me seem to be for different market segments... Treo is a business tool as you said and the Iphone is a rather high end multimedia tool and phone..

If you want an uber cool looking fashionable phone then the iphone will be for you, if you want a phone and PDA in one the iphone for many of us isn't a great option as it will not have 3rd party software support.. And yes the iphone will easily outsell the Treo as more people want a cool...

All of the points in this thread about what the iphone lacks are true, esp lack of SD slot, and typical no-change battery... But that means nothing, the IPOD feature wise lacks a lot compared to many players of the market, but people buy what looks cool and what the flashy adds tell them to...
