    iOS 4 download date/time?

I downloaded the update but my 3G was stuck at the backup stage so I haven't been able to upgrade. Going by the Apple discussion forums, I'm not the only one with this problem. Hoping to get an iPhone 4 on Thursday so I'm not too bothered especially as the 3G doesn't get all the really cool...

    iOS 4 download date/time?

It sucks having to wait all day here in the UK. Last time I updated there was a server overload so it would make more sense to release the upgrade st different times according to which country you live in. Given I've got a 3G the update isn't that major for me it just gives me something to play...

    problems with back ups

This may be a silly question but why wouldn't you want to overwrite the previous backup? If I kept every backup I've made I'd need a dedicated hard drive to store it. :)

    iPhone 3GS and O2

Not sure, I had a bad experience with insurance through 3 mobile in the past. I paid for the insurance but when my handset was stolen they refused to send a letter to the insurance company confirming that I owned the handset even though they were still billing me every month. A friend of mine...

    Make my own ringtones?

Hi Swordfish, I had the same problem and I'm in the UK and also use a PC. I ended up using Nakko.com which sends the ringtone to the podcasts folder so I can then sync the Nakko podcasts to my iPhone. I think it may be something to do with the fact that we still can't buy ringtones in the UK...

    Make my own ringtones?

If you've got the file saved on your computer, I'm sure many of the previously posted methods would work, it just might take a bit of time to get the end result.

*OFFICIAL no sleep till 3.1 thread*

Guess I must be lucky this time as I've had no real problems with 3.0. This time last year, I was tearing my hair out as my iPhone crashed several times a day and took several hours to make a corrupted backup. The only problem I've had so far is Safari sometimes freezing on me but it's easily...

desperate to transfer from my iphone to my PC

I use iTalk (Griffin) for audio recordings on my 3G (I tried the native recording app and found it lacking in punch). They have a desktop version that allows me to drag and drop audio files to my desktop. I use Photoshop Elements as my main photo editing software, once my iPhone is connected to...

    iPhone voicemail

In the UK, you just have to dial a number to turn on/off voicemail so I guess it's the same with other carriers. With my previous handset (Razr) I'm sure I could adjust the settings on the phone (divert to voicemail/other no. if unanswered/busy/out of service). This would be a useful feature for...

What phone did you have before your iPhone?

I had a Motorola Razr before I switched to a 2G and then 3G. Ideally, I'd like the 3GS as it has video and voice control but I can wait until next year for that. At the moment, I don't see myself using another make of handset as the iPhone does so much for me.

If you're that desperate for MMS, there is an app for it (called MMS, I think). I was using it before the 3.0 update and although I had to pay extra if I wanted to send an MMS, it made receiving them much easier. MMS is now dependent on the carrier rather than another software update so even in...

    Apps with push notifications

I couldn't see anywhere with a list of apps that have push (although it may be hidden somewhere) and it might be useful to have a list of those that have this feature. I've got Remember The Milk which has just got push notifications and I've finally got it working after firing up the desktop...

Why are backups so incredibly slow?

I had a similar problem with my first backup after installing 3.0. After nearly 3 hours, I cancelled the backup (click the x in top right corner) as no data had changed since the previous backup. After this, my backups generally take 3 minutes although I do have occasional long ones. About a...

    iPhone 3GS and O2

It looks exactly the same as my contract so I'm very confident that the minutes are any time. I do remember one of my early contracts (about 15 years ago) that gave you either reduced rate or free calls to numbers that were in adjacent area codes to me but all my calls to land lines are included...

    iPhone 3GS and O2

I've been an O2 customer for many years and the minutes in my calling plan are anytime minutes. It's certainly very useful if I know I need to make a long call to a landline, I've got free calls anytime on my landline plan but each call can only be about an hour so I have to hang up and redial...
