do you have another computer that you have iTunes set up on and was originally sync'ing your device? I recently bought a new laptop & was experiencing difficulty importing songs on my existing iPhone. I had to set up an account on my new laptop.

I have the standard Apple iPhone cable & there is a small tear in the insulation. I'll try that, thx!!!
