A friend said to wait until mid-October to spring for a new and first time Macbook. Any thoughts?

The best time to buy is when you need one. There will always be a newer one coming, so just determine your needs, and buy what you need when you need it.

I have the new macbook and got mine in April, I knew it was the one I wanted so waited for it to be launched!! If you have to have one ...get one, if you would like certain model and can wait thats cool too! I love my macbook (going from my cheap very old Acer I feel like I could control NASA now) hahaha
