Screen turns off at a certain angle

I bought a macbook about 10 years ago and aside from a few issues it's running strong and i'd hate to replace it. The major issue is that the screen turns off once I open the monitor more than about 70 degrees. Is this a common problem?

CD drive also isn't working. Not sure if there is a correlation between the two though.

Sounds like refer to qualified service personnel kind of issues...
