    Default MacBook White

Am I the only person still using a white MacBook? Mine is an early 2009 model and is still going strong. It runs OS X Mountain Lion without any hiccups and I have no plans whatsoever of replacing it until it craps out on me.

In my situation, the hardest part was getting out of the mindset of using a Windows PC. I was so use to installing drivers and stuff that I expected to do the same with the MacBook. Was I wrong! It was awkward and uncomfortable and I almost took it back to Best Buy, but the will to learn it was overwhelming and after the second day, I was comfortable with using it. If I were to sit down in front of a PC now, I'd be lost...(laughing)

I went from a long time Windows user to a Mac user as well. The transition didn't take that long. A few days at most. Now when I use a Windows PC at work it takes a minute to re-orient myself. It's nice not to have to worry about the little stuff you need to do to keep Windows running well.

It would depend on the budget and the need ... in my case, I’m not sure there’s a need... I do have almost all of the categories covered...

Same here. Still using my white MacBook mid-2010, runs Mountain Lion and its still a beast. I installed 4GB of ram last year and I must say that I will only change it for the air if and when it will get a retina. The only reason is portability cuz I travel a lot. Other than that, my white one is already 3 years old and it is rocking. Good to know though that there are still some of us using the old white MacBooks.

Mine? 2 hours, tops! Pathetic! I rarely unplug it these days.

Thanks for the info. I have a late 2008 unibody that usually stays plugged in, taken off the charge once a month for battery maintenance. I'm getting 2.5 - 3 hrs and couldn't remember if that batter life was always that bad. Might be time to get a new toy.

Good to see people still have older MacBooks. I have an early 2008 MacBook and its still running strong. The only bad thing is I'm stuck on Lion. I do plan on upgrading soon and then passing this down to my daughter.

As long as it is still running smoothly and doing the things you need it to do, that's all that matters....

Just picked up my 2010 Unibody MacBook from the Apple store... I bought it used, it still has AppleCare til March 2014... and the case was cracked all around the USB, a piece missing near the magsafe connector/LAN jack/display port and a hairline crack coming off the left hinge. Apple replaced the magsafe board, the bottom case, the top case and the display case for ZERO cost. While they were replacing the display case, they noticed some "irregularities" with the display screen, so they replace that, too. Total cost of the repair: $416.28. It cost me $0. I paid less than $500 for the computer in the first place... and still have 8 months of AppleCare on the machine.

Feeling really good about it all...
